Are there any rules for using Academic Spaces?
Yes, All academic spaces are subject to guidelines regarding noise levels, occupancy,
and appropriate use. Classrooms are not open to non-USF entities and are only used
for USF classes and events. Non-USF entities and student groups and organizations
should secure spaces in the Marshall Student Center (Tampa) or the University Student
Center (St. Petersburg). These guidelines aim to minimize disruptions and ensure a
productive environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Can I use an empty classroom without making a reservation?
No, all General Use classroom requests must be made through 25Live or askspace@usf.edu to ensure the space is available for your event.
How can I reserve a room for an event?
Academic space can be scheduled for extra-curricular events that are affiliated with the University. Events will not be scheduled until the first business day following the conclusion of drop/add week each semester. This includes review sessions, help sessions, lecture series, tests/exams, orientations, non-academic events, etc. This is to ensure that all academic courses are fully accommodated first.
Only final exams are scheduled during Final Exam Week - the six (6) days after the term ends. This applies to both general use rooms and dedicated/department-owned academic spaces. The restricted use of these spaces is to ensure we have the needed locations to facilitate final exams and to minimize the amount of disruption to others taking finals.
Requests for acadmic space on the Tampa and St. Petersburg campuses may be emailed to askspace@usf.edu. Please include: title of event, capacity required, start and end times, campus, and preferred location. Allow 2-3 days response time.
Can we have food or drinks in the room?
No food or drinks are allowed in general use spaces on campus regardless of event type or circumstances.
What if the classroom has missing or broken furniture?
Please count all the chairs to ensure all chairs are accounted for. If a classroom has missing or broken furniture please send an email to askspace@usf.edu to report the issue. A work order will be placed with Facilities Management and the work order will be processed in the order it's received.
Can I move furniture from neighboring classrooms?
No, classrooms are equipped with the appropriate number of seats per the Fire Marshal's student capacity. Moving furniture from neighboring classrooms negatively impacts student capacity for other courses scheduled and poses safety hazards.
May I rearrange furniture in general use classroom(s)?
Yes, movable furniture can be rearranged during the duration of your event. Before the conclusion of your event please ensure that the classroom furniture orientation is returned to the way it was found.
What if there are no expo markers/erasers for whiteboards?
Markers/erasers are no longer distributed by the Office of the Registrar. Please feel free to contact your department for supplies to use for your class or event.
