Physicians, anthropologists and marine biologists start at the soil in launch of program to address nature鈥檚 impact on human health
Linking human health to the environment, a growing team of scientists is working together to enhance the impact of microbiomes in a new multifaceted venture called the USF Metropolitan Food Project (MFP). The goal of the project is to address how environmental changes impact food nutrition, and in turn, human health and the risk of viral pandemics.

This set is aimed at measuring public opinion about several proposed electoral/voting reforms, as well as attitudes about the Electoral College.

Researchers at the 51在线, in partnership with Cyber 51在线 at USF, have released results from a nationwide survey to better understand patterns of social media usage. Subjects consist of common uses of social media 鈥 including e-commerce and political engagement 鈥 as well as some effects of usage on social and mental well-being.

Smithsonian curates history of hip-hop and rap with help from USF communications expert
Aisha Durham, associate professor of communications at the 51在线, was part of a group of advisers chosen by the Smithsonian Institution to curate its first multimedia hip-hop collection. The recently released Smithsonian Anthology of Hip-Hop and Rap chronicles 40 years of hip-hop and rap music and the development of the localized culture as it emerged out of the Bronx into a global sensation.

USF invention addresses worldwide mask shortage and pollution concerns
Technology created at USF could be the key to safely reusing disposable face masks. Researchers have figured out a way to rapidly disinfect and electrostatically recharge N95 respirators, recovering their original filtration efficiency and protection capability against COVID-19 and other airborne diseases.

Museum exhibit to feature cold case homicide victims and the USF forensic anthropologists working to identify them
A team of scientists from the 51在线 is looking to the public for help identifying and solving the homicides of 20 individuals. The cold cases will be featured in 鈥淭he Art of Forensics鈥 exhibit at the Sulphur Springs Museum and Heritage Center in Tampa throughout October.

New jellyfish species named after FIO director, USF professor
His expertise in jellyfish is so renowned, Monty Graham, director of the 51在线 Institute of Oceanography and professor of integrative biology at USF, has a new species of jellyfish bearing his name 鈥 the Aurelia montyi.
