鈥淚 benefitted from this experience, by getting Hands-On with tools and techniques of real scientists. These techniques and tools I will be able to bring back to my students, to foster a love of the outdoors and the Tampa Bay watershed. Also, knowledge gained will benefit my students as I pass on this newfound information to them.鈥
鈥淚 feel like I am much more knowledgeable about the content in our standards 鈥搈uch more familiar with the vocabulary and concepts. I feel like I鈥檝e gained both specific and general content knowledge, that will help prevent me from teaching common misconceptions regarding many of the units in our curriculum. I also feel like I also learned a lot about our local ecosystems, that I can use to share with my students as real-life connections and examples that will be engaging for them. I have also gained experience with and learned about many hands-on tools and demonstrations that will increase my students鈥 engagement and experiences.鈥
Field trip experience
鈥淐lam Bayou is so much more than just (an) educational (experience) for my students. They have a BLAST! Everything they do at Clam Bayou is hands-on and truly submerses students into the role of a scientist! It connects to so many of our life science standards and is invaluable to students鈥 understanding of food webs, organisms, data collection, structures of organisms and so much more!鈥 5th grade BWET teacher
