BIOGRAPHY:
David V. Gioe, PhD, is a British Academy Global Professor and Visiting Professor of Intelligence and International Security in the Department of War Studies at King’s College London. He also serves as Director of Studies for the Cambridge Security Initiative and co-convener of its International Security and Intelligence program.

Dr. Gioe previously held the role of Associate Professor of History at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and History Fellow for the Army Cyber Institute. He holds a PhD in Politics and International Studies from the University of Cambridge and is an elected Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.

In addition to his academic contributions, Dr. Gioe has over two decades of experience as an intelligence officer and military diplomat within the U.S. government. He has served in key roles with the FBI, CIA, Office of Naval Intelligence, and Defense Intelligence Agency, specializing in counterintelligence, terrorism, and covert operations. Currently a senior officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve, Dr. Gioe remains active in supporting national security initiatives.
