The African American Heritage Trail is a self-guided walking tour that provides an overview of the African American influence and history in St. Pete. Covering more than a dozen city blocks in South St. Pete鈥檚 downtown area, nineteen markers identify landmarks and provide details about the history of St. Pete鈥檚 African American community.

Individuals, groups, and classes can arrange for a guided tour (walking or by trolley) by contacting the .


Established on September 9, 1915 by Dr. Carter G. Woodson, ASALH are the Founders of Black History Month and carry forth the work of their founder, the Father of Black History. It is the mission of ASALH 鈥淭o promote, research, preserve, interpret, and disseminate information about Black life, history, and culture to the global community.鈥

St. Petersburg Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is a not-for-profit organization of women who are committed to promoting the ideals of friendship and service. It is a group of women dedicated to continuing the legacy of the Founders who were committed to providing meaningful, purposeful, and transformational community service. Pinellas Diaspora Arts Project, Inc. (PDAP) is a framework and collective created by and for Black and Brown Artists to support, encourage, and promote Black and Brown Arts and Artists in Tampa Bay. By building a community of Black and Brown creative producers and thinkers, artists and arts activists, and allied thought leaders, Pinellas Diaspora Arts Project, Inc. seeks to develop, highlight, educate and inspire the next wave of Black and Brown Arts and Artists in the Tampa Bay region through education, collaboration, and community engagement. Offering pop-up art shows, workshops, artist talks, literary and spoken word events, creative huddles and roundtables, and theater, dance, and musical performances.

The St. Pete Youth Farm is a welcoming place where young people develop important life skills. This urban farm project encourages creative thinking and personal growth as students learn everything from growing their own food to financial literacy. Through this youth development program, we support the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs.
