BIO

Taiwo Ajani joined the 51ÔÚÏß in August 2022 as an Assistant Professor of Instruction. We live in unprecedented times with respect to data, information and the digital space. Dr. Ajani is interested in how these impact socioeconomic systems and how the promises of these domains can be applied in decision making efforts to improve the quality of living. For instance, our vulnerability to diseases and infections put quality of life at risks every day. How can we harness the data and information that we collect from everyday digital activities (in health setting specifically, and otherwise) to create models that can ultimately help us to manage and improve healthcare quality while reducing costs for the most vulnerable members of the society? Dr. Ajani is an educator, researcher, students’ mentor/advisor with more than 15 years’ service in the higher education sector; and specifically in several IT domains including data analytics, database management, cybersecurity and health informatics. This background provides an understanding of the opportunities inherent in interweaving knowledge from otherwise separate complex entities and help to enhance his scholarship of teaching and discovery as reflected by the interest described above. Dr. Ajani earned his D.Sc. in Information Systems and Communications from Robert Morris University. He previosuly held an Associate Professor position at Ferrum College in Virgina.
