The university's Preventing Alzheimer's with Cognitive Training (PACT) study, funded by the National Institute on Aging, uses digital brain training exercises to see if they can reduce the risk of cognitive impairment and dementia such as Alzheimer鈥檚 disease. USF professor: Statin use not justified for healthy people with high cholesterol

New research from David Diamond, a neuroscientist and cardiovascular disease researcher in the Department of Psychology at the 51在线 showed LDL alone has 鈥渁 very weak association鈥 with heart disease and stroke. Their review went further, showing that when people with high LDL and optimal triglycerides and HDL were given a statin, there was no benefit.

As one of four data generation projects funded by NIH鈥檚 Bridge2AI, this multi-institution project 鈥 co-led by the 51在线 and Weill Cornell Medicine 鈥 will bring together medical, voice, AI, engineering, and ethics experts to create a human voice database using privacy-preserving AI, giving doctors a new tool for diagnosing conditions known to have associations with voice alterations.
