USF Health Morsani College of Medicine rises to the top in two key U.S. News & World Report rankings

The is now the fastest rising medical school in two metrics tracked by the U.S. News & World Report rankings: in medical research and in primary care.

For medical research, the Morsani College of Medicine climbed from #80 in 2014 to #50 in 2024, and for primary care, the medical school climbed from #78 in 2015 to #46 in 2024. Both of these prestigious designations have been substantiated by data from U.S. News & World Report Academic Insights.

What sets this achievement apart is that no other medical school in the nation has experienced such remarkable improvements in these two critical rankings simultaneously, solidifying the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine's position as the fastest-rising medical school in research and primary care in the nation. 

Among that led to this success – and helped the medical school remain in the top 50 in U.S. News’s most recent rankings for both research and primary care – are the and the going to the medical school’s research faculty. 

The most recent incoming class of MD students demonstrated both academic strength and diversity, boasting a median MCAT score of 518 (in the 95th percentile nationally) and a 23% representation from traditionally underrepresented groups in medicine (URM).

In medical research, the Morsani College of Medicine experienced an impressive rise in securing research funding, growing by 138% over the last nine years. 

This year’s double designation reinforces Morsani College of Medicine’s reputation for robust education and research programs, placing it among the best medical schools in the country.
