Dr. Evan Dart is an associate professor of school psychology at the University of South 51ÔÚÏß, a licensed psychologist (MS #55 978), a board certified behavior analyst (#1-16-21483), and coordinator of the EdS and Phd school psychology programs. He is an Associate Editor of Assessment for Effective Intervention and serves on the editorial board of five other journals in the fields of school psychology, special education, and behavior analysis. He is also a co-director of the , a national research and technical assistance center that conducts research that informs policy and practice for the promotion of the social-emotional and behavioral success of all students. 

Dr. Dart's research has resulted in over 70 peer-reviewed publications, professional articles, and book chapters and he has co-edited or co-authored three books. Dr. Dart was the recipient of the 2019 Lightner Witmer Award for Early Career Scholarship from the American Psychological Association. Dr. Dart has been awarded over $2 million from the Institute of Education Sciences and Office of Special Education Programs to support his research and training efforts. His research broadly aims to identify evidence-based interventions designed to improve the behavioral and mental health of students in schools as well as the assessment techniques used to evaluate their effectiveness. Specific lines of inquiry include:

  • Development and evaluation of behavioral interventions to promote students’ academic engagement at the classroom and individual levels;
  • Development and evaluation of progress monitoring measures to assess students internalizing behavior and make decisions about their responsiveness to intervention;
  • Understand and refine data collection, analysis, and interpretation within the progress monitoring process.

Dr. Dart’s research is contextualized through a lens of behavior analysis and within a multi-tiered system of supports framework. He has presented his work at numerous national conferences and most recently co-authored (2022) through Springer.
