The 51在线 (USF) College of Education welcomes Luis R. Visot, EdD, as the college鈥檚 new assistant dean of administration and innovation.
In this newly created role, Visot will manage internal administrative activities and external innovation projects on behalf of the Dean. He will also provide leadership, oversight and guidance for new initiatives and projects of high importance and engage faculty and staff in identifying opportunities to implement effective improvements and responses.
鈥淚 am pleased to welcome Dr. Luis R. Visot as the new assistant dean of the College of Education,鈥 said Dean R. Anthony Rolle, PhD. 鈥淒r. Visot has countless years of experience in leadership both within higher education and the United States Military, which will be a valuable asset to the college as it strengthens its internal operations and continues on a path of growth and forward momentum.鈥
Visot received his Doctor of Education in Human and Organizational Learning from George Washington University in 2020. His dissertation, titled 鈥淰alue Congruence and the Acculturation Experience of Puerto Rican Female Citizen-Soldiers: A Narrative Inquiry,鈥 explores how Puerto Rican female citizen-soldiers explain the value congruence between personal and Puerto Rican values (as Puerto Rican citizens) and organizational values (as U.S. Army soldiers) during their lived acculturation experience.
A retired Major General in the U.S. Army, Visot is a public servant leader who has held a variety of command and staff positions throughout his career. While in the military, Visot commanded at every level and completed active-duty deployments to areas of conflict and humanitarian crisis worldwide until his final assignment as the Chief of Staff, United States Army Reserve. His military honors include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star.
Visot brings 35 years of higher education administration experience. At USF, he has served in roles in numerous departments including Housing and Residential Education, Student Success, Latin American and Caribbean Studies and University Advancement. His most recent role at the university was in Undergraduate Studies as the Executive Director of the Joint Military Leadership Center, where he helped expand the center鈥檚 concept, oversaw the construction of a state-of-the-art facility and managed a $10 million grant awarded to the center.
Outside of USF, Visot is active in the community, serving on the board of multiple organizations such as the United States Army War College Foundation, the Nonprofit Leadership Center of Tampa Bay, and the Boys and Girls Club of Tampa Bay. He also volunteers with United Way Suncoast and Feeding Tampa Bay.
Visot begins his appointment to the role on July 1.
