Faculty and staff from the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences (CBCS) were recognized at this year鈥檚 USF Faculty Honors and Awards Reception on April 15. James Walker, academic advisor in criminology, received the New Advisor Award, and Lori Hall, PhD, assistant professor of instruction in criminology, received the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award.

As a new academic advisor, Walker has already demonstrated the profound impact that effective academic advising can have on undergraduate student success. His recognition through the Undergraduate Academic Advising Recognition Program highlights not only his dedication, but also USF鈥檚 commitment to honoring excellence, leadership, and effectiveness among its advising staff.
Hall鈥檚 recognition reflects USF鈥檚 ongoing commitment to enhancing undergraduate education by honoring faculty who demonstrate outstanding teaching. Her peers acknowledged her dedication to student learning and academic excellence, reinforcing the university鈥檚 mission to reward impactful and inspiring educators.

The reception also honored retiring faculty members for their years of service, including Iraida Carrion, PhD; Carolyn Ford, EdD; Lisa Hansel, MBA, AuD; and Michiel Riaan van Zyl, PhD. Kathy Black, PhD; Kathleen Heide, PhD; Guitele Rahill, PhD; and Paul Stiles, JD, PhD, were additionally recognized for both their retirement and emeritus status.
