She has a Ph.D. in School Psychology with an emphasis on behavior analysis from the University of California, Riverside.
Dr. Ginns began her career as a school psychologist/behavior consultant in a school district in California with an M.S. in counseling. She returned to graduate school for her Ph.D. where she continued to work as a multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) consultant across multiple school districts. She completed her pre-doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland working with individuals with severe behavioral difficulties and their families. She completed a second postdoctoral fellowship as an instructor in the school psychology program at the 51ÔÚÏß.
Dr. Ginns’ research interests are in both decreasing problem behavior in children/adolescents with severe behavioral difficulties and facilitating behavior change with individuals who support these children. She is particularly interested in how Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) informs Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and how ACT can help promote long-term behavior change in support providers.
