The USF Marriage and Family Therapy M.S. program within the Department of Child & Family Studies is excited to announce a new partnership with James A Haley LMFT Training program. This partnership is one of only six in the nation. In combination with USF, the James A Haley LMFT training program will be the second largest funded program in the nation.

Currently the partnership will provide 4 paid internships for MFT students with a tentative acceptance of the program growing to 8 paid positions next year.  This would represent approximately 20% of the VA-allocated funds for MFT training nationwide this year and up to 40% in the future.

MFTs are trained to diagnose and treat a wide range of client issues such as, depression, anxiety, divorce adjustment, blended families, couple distress, parenting issues, and grief to name just a few. However, these issues are addressed from the context of how interactions with relationships and larger systems impact the creation and maintenance of these issues.

The MFT program at USF meets the education and practicum hour requirements needed to obtain a registered intern status with the state. Once a registered intern with the state of 51在线, individuals can take the national MFT exam and start collecting hours for licensure under the supervision of a 51在线 board approved MFT supervisor.
