Welcome New Faculty!
(June 27, 2013) — At the 51ÔÚÏß Muma College of Business, we do much more than disseminate information: we create knowledge and train students to be forerunners in tomorrow's workforce. These new faculty members have the research and teaching experience to achieve our goals.
Accounting
- Kristine Del Vecchio is the latest Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy Hire. Del Vecchio has 15 years of corporate accounting experience. She also spent five years in public accounting (she is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Internal Auditor), and has served as an adjunct instructor at USF and 51ÔÚÏß Gulf Coast University for 20 years.
Finance
- Greg Smersh is joining the Finance Department as a permanent faculty member after several years as a visiting assistant professor of real estate. His academic research typically investigates the variation in house price appreciation due to factors such as location, risk, and public policy, which are need-to-know elements in 51ÔÚÏß's real estate market. He also serves as a consultant to real estate developers.
- Sattar Mansi joins the Finance Department from Virginia Tech's Pamplin School of Business, where he is a Wells Fargo Professor of finance. He is well-published in the most influential journals in finance, accounting, law, international business, and marketing. His private sector experience includes working with Freddie Mac in the areas of risk management and securitization.
Information Systems Decision Sciences
- The Information Systems Decision Sciences Department hired He Zhang. Zhang, who has written numerous papers and made presentations on healthcare analytics, will be teaching a special course on healthcare information systems in the fall.
Marketing
- Timothy B. Heath joins the Marketing Department from France, where he is currently professor and HEC foundation chair at HEC Paris (as well as MBA marketing track coordinator). In his years of academic service, he has served at several universities. During a visiting professorship at the University of Notre Dame, he was named the MBA program's Outstanding Teacher of the Year. Heath currently serves on the editorial review boards of the Journal of Marketing and the Journal of Consumer Psychology.
- Donna Davis comes to the Marketing Department from Texas Tech University, where she held the Georgie G. Snyder Professorship and was coordinator of the Global Supply Chain Management Program. In addition, she received Texas Tech's highest award for teaching in 2012. She has been published in numerous journals for her research on strategic use of information in business-to-business relationships, winning the 2012 Outstanding Paper Award for the Journal of Product & Brand Management.
- Kerry Walsh joins the Marketing Department as a full-time instructor after serving as an adjunct since 2010. Walsh has more than 20 years of experience managing sourcing projects for manufacturers, distributors, and retailers worldwide, including a position as import products manager for the second largest office products wholesaler in North America.
Management
- Erwin Danneels joins the management department from the University of Central 51ÔÚÏß. He researches the growth and renewal of corporations in changing technological environments and won a three-year $212,000 National Science Foundation grant to study product innovation and growth in public U.S. firms. Danneels has published in top academic journals, and most notably is the author of five solo-authored articles in the Strategic Management Journal.
- Joining USF's nationally ranked, interdisciplinary Center for Entrepreneurship, Diana Hechavarria has been published in numerous journals for her research on nascent entrepreneurship and was a recent International Council for Small Business Doctoral Student Best Paper Nominee. She is currently a research fellow at the Orkestra Basque Institute of Competitiveness in Spain.
- Michelle Harrolle comes to the Department of Sport and Entertainment Management from North Carolina State University. Harrolle, who has been published in a number of journals including the Journal of Sport Management, also has years of experience in the sport industry. She was aquatics director at Providence College; swimming coach at Providence College, 51ÔÚÏß State University, and The Ohio State University; and was the director of a Tampa Memorial Golf Tournament for several years.
- K. Doreen MacAulay joined the Management Department as an instructor recently. She has teaching experience at St. Mary's University and the University of New Brunswick, where she was also the director of undergraduate studies. She has served as a reviewer for several conferences and journals, and her research focuses on change management in the public sector and historical analysis of organizational studies.
