Department of Africana Studies and SIGS Professor Dr. Edward Kissi covers the Holocaust鈥檚 impact on surrounding regions in his new book 鈥淎fricans and the Holocaust: Perceptions and Responses of Colonized and Sovereign Peoples.鈥 In his new book, Dr. Kissi focuses on West and East African鈥檚 reactions to the persecution and attempted annihilation of the Jewish population in Europe and the former German colonies of sub-Saharan Africa during WWII. He felt inspired to write this book because of the lack of information on African鈥檚 reactions to such a huge part of the world鈥檚 history. His focus is on the relations between Jews and Africans before the Holocaust, the perceptions of Nazism, opinions of WWII and interpretations of the Holocaust, and the African鈥檚 response to Great Britain trying to resettle Jewish refugees in the regions.
